Inspiring Future Talent with Innovation at VTC Smart City Innovation Centre

What does the city of tomorrow look like? How can emerging technologies solve real-world urban challenges and improve everyday lives?

Recently, we brought a group of students on an immersive learning journey to explore Hong Kong’s cutting-edge innovation labs of IVE(Tsing Yi) — including the Innovative Construction Technology Centre, VTC Smart City Innovation Centre, Simulated Airport Operations Centre and STEAM Education Centre. The goal of this experience is to inspire young minds by exposing them to the technologies, complexities and possibilities shaping the future of smart cities.

Through these visits, students engaged first-hand with technologies like IoT, BIM, smart mobility technology and VR-based training systems. More importantly, they began to understand how these innovations are applied to solve real-world problems — and how they can build smarter, more resilient communities.

Our aim goes beyond sparking curiosity. We help students connect what they experience to who they can become — future engineers, urban planners, data scientists, and changemakers. When young people are given early access to innovation and purpose-driven learning, they begin to see their role in shaping a better city — and a better future.
