Last Thursday (2 July), SEED Foundation, together with the Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools Association, hosted a SEED Centre MoU Ceremony at the Alibaba Hong Kong office. The event welcomed principals, teachers, and partners from across Hong Kong, gathering together to witness an important milestone in the development of digital education in the city.
The session opened with Dr William Lam, Principal Education Officer(Innovation Technology Education and Quality Assurance of the Education Bureau, who shared the vision behind the Digital Education Blueprint and the importance of technology education for the next generation. SEED Foundation representatives then introduced the work of SEED Foundation and the details of the SEED Centre Network School Partner Program. The event continued with a "Panel Discussion with CEOs" panel, featuring Ms Cindy Chow, Executive Director and CEO of Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, Ms Cecilia Ho, President of the Lee Hysan Foundation, alongside Mr Kan Wai-hung, Chairman, and Ms Leung Kwun-fan, Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools Association. The panel explored, from the perspectives of business, philanthropy and education, the talent demands of the digital economy and the importance of schools, enterprises, and NGOs working together to nurture future-ready talent.
SEED Foundation and the Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools Association then formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This MOU marks the official expansion of the SEED Centre program across all 18 districts of Hong Kong. Through a "Shared Campus" model, schools will be transformed into accessible community learning hubs, ensuring that every student — regardless of background or location can access advanced digital skills training, bringing the vision of "A SEED in Every District" to life.
We are deeply grateful to Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, Lee Hysan Foundation, and Contempo for their steadfast support of SEED Foundation, enabling us to continuously create more opportunities for Hong Kong secondary students to engage with digital technology. We look forward to partnering with more schools through the SEED Centre network, empowering the next generation to equip themselves for the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy ahead.
