SEED Insider

Last week, we gathered for the wrap-up ceremony of this year's Workplace Experience Program. And what stayed with us most wasn't just a presentation. One student opened his sharing with a question that caught us all off guard.

"What made you choose to spend your summer on WXP?"

We've always talked about what students take away from WXP: the skills, the confidence, the first real taste of professional life. But this year, something shifted. This time, the students had something to say about why they came in the first place.

A deliberate choice made over a summer holiday. A trade-off weighed quietly without anyone forcing them to. A kind of self-awareness that reminded everyone in the room that this generation knows exactly what they want, if we give them the opportunity to reach for it.

One student shared at the ceremony:
"WXP gave me a rare opportunity to experience what adult working life is really like, something I could not fully learn from school. In class, teachers often guide us towards the right answer or a clear method. But through this experience, I realized that in the workplace, there can be many ways to solve a problem. It made me a better communicator, a stronger problem-solver and a more responsible person.”

This is exactly what it looks like when education and industry come together with a shared purpose. It takes educators, professionals and organisations who genuinely believe that nurturing the next generation is a responsibility worth showing up for. And because of that, what happened in those offices this summer was more than learning. It was something real, something meaningful and something that will quietly ripple forward in ways none of us may fully see yet.

Congratulations to every student who showed up this summer. What they walked away with, no classroom could have given them.

A summer like this doesn't happen without the people who said yes. Thank you to our WXP 2026 host companies for opening your doors:
