    Competition Requirements:

    Deadline: on or before 31 August (Sun)

    Create a 30 to 90-second, 9:16 vertical IG Reels video based on the upcoming themes announced by the organizers. Unite the power of your peers to raise awareness about personal data protection!

    • S.1 to S.3 students will enter the “Junior Secondary” division, S.4 to S.6 students will enter the “Senior Secondary” division (as of the academic year 2024/25)
    • Form a team of 2-6 students and 1 teacher advisor from the same school 
    • All students must complete level 1
    Level 2 Prize

    Date: 27 September (Sat)

    Based on the total score awarded according to the judging criteria, the top 15 teams from both the Junior and Senior divisions will be invited to the event and receive prizes and certificates!

Your Rewards and Honors!

The competition consists of Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Divisions. Each Guardian will receive a corresponding certificate, and each team member will receive the following prizes according to their team’s achievement in the respective division.

    Q1 How do I apply and will I receive a confirmation email of successful registration?

    Please click this link to fill in the application form. After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive it within 5 working days, please email us at dataverse@seedfoundation.hk.

    Q2 What language will the Online Info Session and Self-learning Course be conducted?

    The Online Info Session will be conducted in Cantonese and subtitles will not be available. The Online Self-learning Course videos are in Cantonese with both Chinese and English subtitles.

    Q3 Will there be replay if I am not available to attend the Online Info Session?

    Students who are unable to attend the Online Info Session can revisit the session by accessing the Self-learning Platform or clicking the "Info Session Replay" button at the top of the event webpage.

    Q4 If I want to join the IG Reels Competition, is it a must to include at least 2 students from the same school?

    Yes, each team can consist of 2 to 6 students from the same school.

    Q5 Can a team consist of students from different forms?

    Yes, students in the same team can come from different forms, and a team's division will be determined by the highest-form student in the team. The divisions are:
    Junior Secondary Division: S.1 to S.3 (Year 7 to 9) students in the School Year of 2024/25
    Senior Secondary Division: S.4 to S.6 (Year 10 to 12) students in the School Year of 2024/25

    Q6 Can the same teacher be the advisor of multiple teams?

    Yes.

    Q7 Can I still join if I am graduating from S.6 (Year 12) in this school year 2024/25?

    Sure!

    Q8 Can a student member of a team be changed after registration?

    Yes. Please note that each team member must individually pass Level 1- Online Self-learning Course, for the team to be qualified to enter the IG Reels Competition. If students wish to change team member during the IG Reels Competition, the new member must complete the course and pass the quiz for the team to be considered eligible.

    Q9 Where can I find the link to access the Online Self-learning Platform?

    The details of the online self-learning platform will be sent via email to successfully registered teams. You can also access the platform by clicking the "Online Self-learning Platform" button at the top of the homepage.

    Q10 What language can I use in the IG Reels?

    You can use English, Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese in the IG Reels.

    Q11 What are the themes for the IG Reels Competition?

    We will announce the themes of the IG Reels in due time, so stay tuned for updates!

    Q12 What is the format and requirement for the IG Reels?

    The IG Reels should be at least 30 seconds and at most 90 seconds long. We accept .mov or .mp4 file format with a maximum file size 300MB. The IG Reels should be filmed in 9:16 aspect ratio, portrait mode, in FullHD (1080x1920) resolution.

    Q13 How do I submit the IG Reels? Will I receive a confirmation email of successful submission of an IG Reels?

    An online form will be emailed to the teams who register to join the IG Reels Competition for video submission. After submission, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive it within 5 working days, please email us at dataverse@seedfoundation.hk .

    Q14 Can I submit more than one IG Reels? Can I revise my submitted IG Reels?

    All details regarding the IG Reels submission process will be communicated via email to the respective teams. Please stay tuned to your inbox for updates.

    Q15 Who will be the judges for the IG Reels Competition?

    The judging panel will be comprised of technology, data protection and digital market domain experts.

    Q16 What is the Convention of Guardians of the Dataverse and how can I participate in it?

    The Convention of Guardians of the Dataverse is an award ceremony where we will showcase IG Reels from both divisions and announce the winning IG Reels at the event. The teams that created the top 15 IG Reels entries in each category will be invited to attend this in-person ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, 27 September 2025. Further event details will be provided to the invited teams via email.

    Q17 What kinds of certificates will I receive from joining this program?

    - All students who have completed the Online Self-learning Course and passed the quizzes will receive a Certificate of Participation
    - When a team submit 30 to 90-second IG Reels with reasonably meaningful content relevant to the provided themes (see Q11) by 31 August, 2025, all team members will receive a Certificate of Completion
    - If your IG Reels receives any award at the Award Ceremony, all team members of the winning IG Reels will receive the corresponding award certificate
